King Movements
The chess king is a regal and majestic piece on the chessboard. It is usually represented as a larger piece compared to the other chessmen. The king's design is often characterized by a crown or a stylized top to signify its importance. Here are the list of movements:
- The king can move one square in any direction - horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.
- The king can move up - d6
- The king can move down - d4
- The king can move left - c5
- The king can move right - e5
- The king can move diagonally up right - e6
- The king can move diagonally up left - c6
- The king can move diagonally down right - e4
- The king can move diagonally down left - c4
- The king can move one square on all directions except to e5 because a white pawn is blocking it.
- The king can take the enemy knight on c6.
- The king cannot take the enemy pawn on f5 because it is one square away.
- The king can perform a special move called castling under certain conditions. This involves moving the king two squares towards a rook, and the rook moves to the square the king skipped over.
The king's movement is limited but vital for safety and positioning on the chessboard.
